Turf Seed Products
Over the past 30 years, turf grass research has completely changed the turf industry. Plant breeders have produced darker green varieties. Disease tolerances have vastly improved. Varieties are now more tolerant of weather extremes – heat, cold, drought. Leaves/blades are now softer to the touch. Breeders have even developed varieties that grow lower and slower, resulting in a more attractive appearance after mowing for a longer period of time.
These advancements have been incorporated into most of the popular turf grass species – fine fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue and other species. And new, improved varieties continue to be releases.
Improved turf varieties, with a more attractive appearance and feel, can also save turf managers money in the long run, whether used for lawns, parks or sports fields. The increased weather tolerances and disease resistance can allow a turf stand to flourish for a longer period of time (often with fewer inputs) and, therefore, minimizing costly turf renovations.
Lewis Seed works with the finest independent and university plant breeders and has licensed many of the newest turf grass varieties. The company can fully support a total turf grass product portfolio. Along with supplying individual varieties, Lewis Seed can also mix and bag product, in all package sizes.
